Two weeks ago Trading Standards put out an alert of rogue traders going door to door selling fish in the Weeting area (alert printed below). We have since received reports of them operating in East Rudham and Syderstone and our advice is not to deal with door to door sellers and to ring 101 if you are aware of any rogue trader activity. Rogue Trader Alert: Door to door fish sellers – 29 November 2019 Residents need to watch out for cold callers selling fish door to door. This follows a report from the Weeting area where three men all wearing long white coats were seen cold calling at properties offering frozen fish. They were seen to return to a plain white Ford Transit van. In the past these types of sellers have been known to use high pressure sales tactics and there have been issues with the quality of the fish being offered, whether the type of fish is as claimed, and whether it has been appropriately stored for transportation. It is possible this seller may continue to move on to other locations within Norfolk. Do not deal with cold callers and never be pressurised into buying on the doorstep. If you are approached by this seller or are concerned about possible rogue trader activity in your area, please report it to us via our partners the Citizens Advice consumer helpline on 03454 04 05 06 or to Norfolk Police on 101. |

Police Appeal for information
Detectives are appealing for witnesses following two robberies which happened in King’s Lynn on Tuesday night (5 November 2019).
The first incident happened around 10.10pm as the victim, a 54-year-old man, walked near All Saints Church in Hillington Square. He was approached by another man who punched him several times and verbally threatened him, before stealing his phone. The victim suffered a fractured cheekbone.
The suspect fled the scene, in the company of two youths who were riding bikes. They headed in the direction of Valingers Road and South Everard Street.
A short time later, between 10.15pm and 10.40pm, a second incident happened in Rollesby Road where a 19-year-old man was robbed of his bike, mobile phone, hat and tobacco. The teenager was cycling near to Guy-Raymond when he was approached from behind by three people. The victim was pulled from his bike and assaulted, suffering a broken finger.
Officers believe the incidents could be linked and are appealing to anyone with information or may have witnessed the attacks to come forward.

Broken bridge on footpath/bridleway ‘Shouldham BR1’ and ‘Wormegay BR3’ – temporarily closed
Norfolk County Council carries out regular inspections of all Public Highways assets including footbridges. Following a recent inspection of the timber footbridge ‘TF61411’ on footpath/bridleway ‘Shouldham BR1’ and ‘Wormegay BR3’ we found parts of the bridge were rotten. This means that we need to temporarily close the bridge as it is currently unsafe to use.
Until the bridge can be repaired or replaced, the footpath/bridleway routes will be available for use only on a ‘to the bridge and back’ basis. Please see attached map showing the location of the bridge.
The County Council thanks people for their patience during this closure.

No Drone Zone
Some questions were raised following the distribution of the initial No Drone Zone poster. I hope this helps to answer some of those questions. If after reading this you still have any queries please let me know and I will try to get them answered for you. The Air Safety Cell will be in attendance at our Community Information Event on the 30th October and will be happy to answer any concerns on the day. I have attached our Community Information Event poster to this email, if you haven’t already done so please could you distribute it as widely as possible.
The web address listed on the initial poster was a broken link. We have now removed that link from the poster, see updated version attached. Visiting www.dronesafe.uk is a good alternative for the same information.
The number listed on the poster takes you to the RAF Marham Main Guard Room (MGR). The orderly staff at the MGR will only collect information on Drone sightings, they will never be able to grant permission for any Drone use.
The airfield is frequently used out of hours by the Marham Aero Club (MAC) and the Fenland Gliding Club (FGC) therefore the airfield should be considered active even if Air Traffic Control (ATC) is closed. The Duty Operations Officer (DOO) should know the intended operating hours of the MAC and FGC and can provide that information to any Drone user but this should not be considered as permission to fly a Drone, instead to be used as a deconfliction method with the onus remaining with the Drone operator.
Drone users remain responsible for any aviation event they conduct. The flying of drones within the Drone exclusion area should only be done when the Drone operator has either received direct verbal permission from ATC when the airfield is open or outside of the published out of hours flying by the MAC or FGC activities.
The Drone Code protection area surrounding RAF Marham is as follows: 500m either side of each end of the 4 runways out to 5000m to a height of 2000ft; and a radius from the centrepoint of 2.5nm and to a height of 2000ft. Please note that when active the airfield Military Protection Zone is 5nm radius to a height of 3000ft.
The flying of Drones in a safe and considered manner near RAF Marham remains the responsibility of the Drone operator, we support a 2 way process to ensure that deconfliction is taken at every opportunity.

Hazardous Waste Disposal Amnesty
Norfolk County Council are encouraging residents to get rid of their unwanted household hazardous waste during a special disposal event.On Saturday & Sunday October 19th & 20th hazardous waste can be taken to the Saddlebow recycling centre at the Willows Business Park near Kings Lynn, from 9am to 4pm.Norfolk County Council has arranged the special event which will give residents the opportunity to get rid of items such as wood preservatives, insecticides, weed killers, paint, thinners, varnishes and cleaning products.You can find out more about the event on line at: www.norfolk.gov.uk/hazardouswaste
